This week in art class has flown by—Clay, creativity, and Christmas projects galore!
Our students have been busy bringing winter magic to life through a variety of festive projects:
Kindergarten
Our youngest artists are creating star-shaped clay ornaments and working on the sweetest penguin artwork you’ve ever seen.
1st Grade
First graders are making beautiful clay snowflake ornaments and just wrapped up their mitten-and-hot-cocoa artwork.
2nd Grade
Second graders finished their cozy stocking caps and are now diving into their huge Santa face projects, along with preparing art for their upcoming concert!
3rd Grade
Third graders created clay snowman trays and began their large mitten-holding-a-snowflake artwork.
4th–6th Grade
Upper grades have started their choice-based Christmas art projects. Students can explore the styles of five famous artists—Keith Haring, Piet Mondrian, Andy Warhol, Yayoi Kusama, and Roy Lichtenstein—and then create a winter-themed project inspired by their chosen artist.
They are also busy creating clay keepsake ornaments:
• 4th Grade: polar bears
• 5th Grade: ugly (or adorable!) sweaters
• 6th Grade: a choice of a lower-grade project or a meaningful design of their own
And finally—thank you to all families who attended the 2nd and 3rd grade music concert and art show on Thursday! Your support means so much, and the students were thrilled to share the artwork and performance they worked so hard to prepare.
