Cookie Request from the Library!
This year we will again be doing “Buddies and Books” in the library the last week of school before break! We really enjoy this chance for our younger students to get to read a Christmas book with an older student. Each student will also get to pick out a free book, thanks to the generosity of the grandparents who shopped at our Book Fair in September. We are taking donations of store-bought cookies for the event as well. Please send to the office or the library. Thank you!
Berryton PTO is organizing a staff luncheon for Thursday, December 19. Please click the sign-up link for information and the opportunity to contribute. We appreciate your support!

These 6th graders represented Berryton in the NEKMEA Elementary Choir this past Saturday. They spent their Saturday morning rehearsing with 160 other students from across northeast Kansas. We're proud of you! We also ran into 3 former Berryton students representing SHMS in the NEKMEA Middle Level Choir. Way to go, Buffalos!
This week was a busy week as we gear up for the Holiday season! 6th grade finished their hot chocolate mugs and started working on drawing their classic truck! 5th graders finished their Nutcrackers and started drawing their mittens holding a heart snowball as well as polar bear out of clay! They were really up for the challenge! 4th grade finished up their penguins after several days of program practice. Then they started drawing their cartoon bear hibernating and started working on their mug of hot chocolate out of clay! 3rd grade finished their Mingo the Christmas flamingo and then listened to the book Everyone's Tree by Barbara Joosse. They are also starting to make their snowman dish out of clay!
Each child at BES will make an ornament or holiday item during art class that will be taken home as a special memory item! I am so excited to build these exciting memories with your child!
2nd grade finished up their wooly caps by making yarn pompoms to the tops. 1st grade finished the final details on their Roudolph and started making their own Christmas trees out of paper plates! Kinders finished their trees by decorating them and started drawing their huge snowman based on the book The Biggest Snowman Ever by Elizabeth Bennett. We are working on perceptions!
I have also started something new! One child from each grade level will be picked as the Student Artist of the Month! Their artwork will be displayed in the art room along with a picture of them! They will also get a certificate from me! They were so excited to earn this achievement. This Month's Student Artist are: K-Lila, 1-Madeline,3- Bridget, 4-Bannon, 5-Zoey, 6- Roman! Congratulations to our artists!
