BES Art Corner

We wrapped up our Frida Kahlo unit with lots of creativity across most grade levels!

  • 6th Grade finished their “surprise Frida beautification” art pieces and began creating their own unique Frida-inspired portraits.

  • 3rd Grade is drawing one of Frida’s iconic bird and fruit artworks while practicing new coloring techniques to make their art pop!

  • 2nd Grade is drawing cats—since Frida often included cats and monkeys in her portraits! They’re adding details with oil pastels and will watercolor their cats next week.

  • 1st Grade learned about the Hispanic holiday Day of the Dead. In connection to Frida’s heritage, they are creating skeleton portraits of Frida decorated with beautiful colors and designs.

  • Kindergarten finished their stamped apple trees and started working on apple cores. They are practicing essential skills like following directions, cutting, and gluing.

  • 4th & 5th Grade are working hard on special art pieces that will be displayed during their music program—this will be their very first art show night! Their theme is Rock n' Roll from the 1930's-1960's!

Berryton PTO has an immediate need for a craft fair chair. This event is Saturday November 22 9-3. Responsibilities include soliciting vendors, collecting fees, assigning booths, advertising for the event, communicating updates with PTO, and being there for the entire event. Most planning can be done from home. There will be other PTO members available to assist with planning or questions. This is a nice fundraiser and community event we don’t want to see canceled. If you have an interest in chairing this event or have questions please reach out to Karlee Bocquin at krboc@msn.com.
