Election Day is coming up on Tuesday, November 4, and you may already be noticing campaign activities around our community. While staff are not permitted to participate in campaign activities during the workday, you are certainly encouraged to exercise your right to vote. Voting is both a right and a privilege, and as educators, we have a unique opportunity to model civic engagement for our students.
Be sure you are registered ahead of time. Tuesday, October 14, is the last day to register. The Shawnee County Election Office website offers helpful tools to check your registration, find your polling location, view a sample ballot, and learn more about the candidates. In the Shawnee Heights district, three of the seven school board seats are on the ballot this year, with two contested races. Detailed information about these contests and the candidates is available on the election office website. Thank you for staying informed and helping set a positive example of civic participation in our community.
