A Note from Our Principal 🖤

Greetings SHES Families,

We had such a wonderful start to the school year! I have enjoyed meeting our new students and their families; while also catching up with our returning Thunderbolts! Our new staff members have jumped right in and are doing absolutely wonderful!

It was so great to have so many new faces at our first PTO meeting last month! We invite you all to be a part of our SHES PTO so we can work together to provide wonderful opportunities for our students, items needed for classrooms, transportation funds for field trips, and many more!

Please read carefully over the section "Shawnee Heights Bond Issue" below. We are counting on our SHES community to help spread the word for what this bond can mean for our building if it passes.

Would love to see you all at our Fall Festival on Saturday, September 6th, at Shively Farms from 10am-noon!

Happy September, Thunderbolts! ⚡️

We hope everyone had a relaxing and safe Labor Day weekend! We have shifted past some of those 'first day jitters' and are well into our groove here at SHES. After those initial days of expectations, routines, and procedures, students and staff are starting to really dive into academic learning. We are wrapping up the fall testing window for FastBridge, our district-wide benchmark screener for math and English language arts.

Getting into our groove also means students are getting more comfortable, so we naturally start to have a few more conflicts to navigate through. An important document for your reference is our 'Systematic Consequence Map', or more commonly known by students as 'steps'. This is our tier 1 system for classroom teachers to document and respond to various situations before the involvement of myself and/or Mrs. Hays is necessary. I have attached a screenshot below for your reference, but am happy to send a digital copy to any family upon request.

October 15 - Advance Voting by Mail Begins

October 20 - Early Vote in Office Begins 8am - 6pm

October 28 - Deadline for Advance Mail Ballot Application

November 3 - Last Day to Early Vote in Office, ends at 12pm

November 4 - General Election Day 7am - 7pm (Mail ballots must be returned by 7pm on election day)
